Summary

The course aims to develop PhD students' skills in writing and editing their own written texts (scholarly reports, articles, presentations, dissertations, etc.). The course has a theoretical and practical focus, includes both lectures and practical seminars, during which PhDs present their work, develop skills in editing their own and others' scholarly texts, and participate effectively in dialogic formats such as discussions, conferences, seminars, etc. The course consists of two parts: the first one focuses on writing and editing scholarly texts and the second one - on presenting scholarly results at various academic fora.

Please submit a letter of motivation (up to 300 words) endorsed by your supervisor to the following email: deyana_andonova@admin.uni-sofia.bg with the course title in the subject field. Send your letter of motivation from October 1st to October 31st 2025.

Description

The course is part of the PhD track offered by Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski Academic, Analytical and Research Skills for PhDs (across thematic areas). It is is suitable for (but not exclusive to) first-year PhDs.

The course takes place in November 2025 ( 4, 6, 11, 12, 18 November 2025 from 17.00 to 21.00 EET and on 15 November 2025 from 9.00 to 18.00 EET)

PhDs are expected to participate in lectures (synchronous).

Each submitted assignment will receive a review and assessment in the LMS. The participants edit and resubmit their assignments if necessary (asynchronous). PhDs presenting their work in a scholarly fora format will also be assessed.
