Summary
In the digital era, information circulates at unprecedented speed, transforming how people consume and share content. This environment has also enabled the rapid spread of disinformation, political propaganda, and fraudulent commercial communication—serious threats to democratic life and consumer protection. The course examines how these phenomena are created and amplified, focusing on the production and dissemination of fake news, propaganda strategies that influence public opinion, and deceptive marketing practices that mislead audiences. By developing students’ analytical, critical, and ethical skills, the course equips them to identify, assess, and counter these threats, fostering informed and resilient citizenship in a transmedia, globalised context.
