Summary

This course delves into the dynamic realms of management, marketing, and advertising. It offers students the opportunity to engage deeply with the influential discourses of leading figures and organizations that have significantly impacted these fields. Through a meticulous analysis, interpretation, and summarization of both written and spoken discourse – speeches, books, articles, and interviews – students will gain insights into the distinct communication styles, persuasive techniques, and thought processes of these gurus. A critical component of the course is the examination of prevalent jargon, buzzwords, and the often transient nature of management trends. This scrutiny is aimed at equipping students with the ability to discern substantive concepts from fleeting fads and questionable theories. The curriculum is designed to foster not only an understanding of these influential ideas but also a critical perspective on them. The course demands a commitment to extensive reading, fostering a rich foundation of knowledge. Equally important is active participation in class discussions, which will serve as a platform for students to articulate their thoughts and insights. This dual focus on comprehensive academic exploration and interactive learning is central to the course's objective of shaping well-informed, critical thinkers in the fields of management, marketing, and advertising.
