Summary

This training program provides a practical overview of the core aspects of academic publishing – from quality assurance and research evaluation to open access, copyright, and the use of digital tools. Special emphasis is placed on research integrity, plagiarism prevention, and the impact of AI on research. The course offers a solid introduction to both traditional and modern publication strategies, aligning with current developments in scholarly communication.

Description

TARGET GROUP: Graduates of degree programs in information science, information management, library science, or related fields Individuals working in libraries, ombuds offices, research departments, and similar roles who deal with issues related to scholarly communication, publishing, research data management, copyright, open science, research integrity, and research evaluation and who seek to navigate these topics with confidence. Researchers (from PostDoc level onward) in public and private-sector institutions

COST: 1.450€

REGISTRATION: You can apply by sending an informal email with your name, address, and date of birth to cecsaar(at)uni-saarland.de. In the next step, you will receive a confirmation along with a payment request. Once your payment has been received, you will be notified by email and given the opportunity to register in SIM. The application deadline is March 17, 2025. The course begins on April 16, 2025.

PARTICIPANT'S OBLIGATIONS: The assessment consists of a graded essay of 5–10 pages, covering either a broader topic from the course sessions or a specific subject from an individual session.
