PhD Track: THE FUTURE OF EU ENLARGEMENT POLICY

Lead Advisor: Prof. Dr. Maria Stoicheva The PhD Track is suitable for PhD students from the areas of European Studies, Political Science, International Relations, History, Economics and other interdisciplinary studies. This PhD track explores the future of EU enlargement policy through a series of online lectures complemented by an interactive group sessions. Participants will examine and debate alternative scenarios for the future of EU enlargement by 2035, assessing their political, institutional, economic, and geopolitical implications, among others. A special emphasis is placed on peer-review and evaluation among the participating PhDs, as well as expert review and evaluation on part of the Lead Advisor and the PhDs' supervisors. To apply, please write to ntsvetkova@phls.uni-sofia.bg and to mstoyanova@phls.uni-sofia.bg by September 25th, 2026. Please send a motivation letter signed by your your supervisor. You will be sent instructions about joining the PhD track by September 30th, 2026. The participants are also invited to visit Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski under the regular Erasmus+ exchanges among T4EU partners and work under the guidance of the Lead Advisor onsite in relation to their research interests and needs.
